Nilgiri literally translated, means the Blue Mountain. It is the most spectacular
mountain range in south Indian striding across a land lush with vegetation, the famous
Nilgiri Teas are grown.
The tea gardens, situated among eucalyptus trees and
cypresses winding rivers and plunging water falls vary in elevation from about 30 meters
to 2000 meters. Soils are red and yellow loam and are fateritic in origin. Nilgiri
teas are relatively mild and are famous for their bright and brisk liquor and light and clean
flavour.
Nilgiri produces 50 million kg. of tea annually and the mellow flavour and
unique creamy smoothness is the choice of tea tasters across the globe.
